Remembering Frank Kelner Sr.

Dad, Brother, Husband, Uncle, Hero, and Pop-Pop to us all

Francis Robert Kelner Sr (Frank), 96 passed peacefully in his McDonough home on Thursday June 29th, 2023. He was surrounded by family and loved ones.

Mr. Kelner was born Gary, Indiana, the son of Thelma and George Kelner. He enjoyed life to the fullest. Frank was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as an aircraft radio controller during WWII. He went on to graduate from John Hopkins University with a degree in Chemistry.

Frank changed careers shortly thereafter and went to work for Eastern Airlines, where he received numerous accommodations for his professionalism, integrity, and his strong beliefs in equality. He retired in 1986.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Doris (Cline) Kelner, his son Francis Robert Kelner Jr., and daughter Georgia (Kelner) Coffey.

He leaves behind his daughter Dawn (Kelner) West, Elizabeth Kelner, and son Gary Kelner. As well as 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren.

He remains loved and will be missed by all. He was lovingly known as Pop-pop by all of his grand, and great grandchildren. He was dutiful and faithful to his family, dedicating himself to loving and caring for them all of his life.
